Jack of no trades, but a master of one.
It does one thing, and one thing spectacularly well - breathe life into black and white photos. I’ve tried countless presets (both homebrew and created by others) in LR and PS, but despite the raw power of those two programs, when it came to B&W, it didn’t come close to what I envisioned in my head. Having grown up in Eastern Europe, I longed for those gritty, imperfect BW tones which documented my childhood, yet PS and LR always came up with a look that was far too polished and “technically perfect”. While AlienSkin Exposure if my go-to for achieving the look I want for colour photos (it’s BW options are quite decent as well), the far more limited Tonality app is by far the gold standard when it comes to the beauty that is B&W.
